image

Last weekend the MCTS Windows Server 2008 (and MS Forefront Client and Server) welcome kits became available at last! So if you passed any of the following exams, you can order your welcome kits today :

  • MCTS : Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuration
  • MCTS : Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuration
  • MCTS : Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuration
  • MCTS : Microsoft Forefront Client and Server, Configuration

You can order them via this page at the MCP Members website

Just a note from Lukas Beeler :

“Just as a quick note, if you try ordering with Firefox, you’ll get an “MCT DB Failure” Error Message, and the order won’t go through. If you order with IE, it’ll work fine though.”

How did you order the three MCTS Windows Server 2008 kits? The results have not been posted yet. The passing scores for all three tests were just set last week and individual results should come out somewhere around the first week of March.

  • Hi Chris,

Eh…last week? The exams went live somewhere at the end of October 2007. Aren’t you confusing these exams with the MCITP Win2k8 exams?

    Regards,
    Helmer

Unless I’m reading it wrong, the first three MCTS exams in your screenshot are for 70-640, 70-642, and 70-643. Their beta period ended right before Christmas. Microsoft just held the focus groups to establish the passing scores for these last week (I attended the one for 70-643.) We were told that the exams should go live around the first week of March and scores should go out to the beta testers at the same time. The MCITP tests for Win2k8 were available in beta form in January and I read a blog post somewhere else saying that the focus groups for them was being held on the 27th-29th of this month (see Lukas Beeler’s blog at http://projectdream.org/wordpress/)

Just found your blog and am enjoying it so far,

    Chris

  • I passed the 71-649 (upgrade from Win2k3) and that exam went live somewhere at the end of October. And by passing the 649 I received the three MCTS titles you can see in the screenshot. You are right about the 640, 642 and 643, but I didn’t attend these because I already have the MCTS credentials by passing the 649 🙂

You are totally right. I completely forgot that by passing the upgrade exams you got the 3 (or 2 for 648) separate certifications. Trika just posted that they are shooting for March 10th for the MCTS exams to go live, so that matches up with what they told us in Redmond.
Do you happen to know Martijn Plijnaer from The Hague? He was at the focus group I attended in Redmond.

  • Nope..I don’t know Martijn Plijnaer 🙂 You’re not from the Netherlands yourself?

I’m from Utah. I found your blog in a round about way through Trika’s blog. I met Martijn in Redmond and thought that there might be a chance that you knew him. Which city are you in?

  • Hi Chris, no I don’t know Helmer either. Just came across his blog a few weeks ago though.
    Hi Helmer 🙂
