Microsoft made the beta version of Windows Intune available earlier today. Too bad it’s only available for participants in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. I was curious if you really have to be in one of the countries physically or if a ‘American-oriented Live ID’ will do. (This how-to is still a bit of work in progress)
Step 1 : Go To http://www.microsoft.com/online/windows-intune.mspx and click the Sign up for a beta of Windows Intune… (on the right side of the page)
Step 2 : Logon with a USA oriented Windows Live ID (*)
Step 3 : Complete the form with your address
Step 4 : Click the link in the received e-mail to enter the Administration pages
If you receive an error like below, just try the Live ID you received in your e-mail. You don’t need to use the USA oriented Windows Live ID in this step. If you receive an error that the username/password
Step 5 : You have to change your password the first time you logon
Step 6 : Logon (again) with your new password.
Step 7 : Download and install the Windows Intune Client Software by clicking the Installing the Windows Intune Client Software Link.
Now download the correct version (x86 or x64) and install it on your client.
Step 8 : Install your first client by running the downloaded msi
(*) A USA oriented Windows Live ID is a Windows Live ID with a USA address 🙂
