Windows 8 Consumer Preview gets a special Bing HomepageWindows 8 Consumer Preview krijgt een speciale Bing Homepage

Windows 8 Consumer Preview Bing Homepage

Microsoft is teasing the Windows 8 Consumer Preview release with the coming of a special animated Bing homepage. It’s in HTML5 and is showing a swimming fish in a fish tank with mouse over highlighting features of what to expect in the upcoming Consumer Preview of Windows 8.

Since February is 29 days this year….we have to wait a little bit more then three weeks at the most before we can install the latest Microsoft’s latest client OS.

To bad the mouse-over links on the Bing page don’t work (yet), but the moment we can download the Consumer Preview the info probably will be available too.

Check out the Windows 8 Bing homepage for yourself : http://www.bing.com/?win8start=1Windows 8 Consumer Preview Bing Homepage

System Center 2012 ExamsSystem Center 2012 Examens

systemcenter

Earlier today I received an invite for the System Center Configuration Manager 2012 beta exam (71-243). Too bad that mail is not yet made public, but within a few days you all can register for the beta exam which can be attended from February 1st till February 23rd.

While I was searching the web today for some new information about the new System Center suite I ran into something nice. With the new System Center 2012 suite also a new certification will become available. The exact name has to be determined at the moment, but it will probably be something like this : MCITP Private Cloud.

The receive this certification you have to pass the following exams:

If you already achieved the MCITP Server Administrator or MCITP Enterprise Administrator, then you already passed these exams. To achieve the Private Cloud Certification you only have to pass the next two exams:

I’ve you are able to attend the Microsoft Management Summit (MMS) 2012 in Las Vegas, you probably can attend the System Center 2012 Beta Exams which will be available at the Summit in April 2012. Let’s hope the beta exams will also be available to everybody, who isn’t able to attend the event, via the ‘normal’ channels!

As soon any news will be available, I’ll update my blogpost!systemcenter

Windows 8…when will the beta become available?Windows 8….wanneer zal de eerste beta versie beschikbaar komen?

The last few days the Windows 8 buzz has really started. I’m really curious when the (first?) Windows 8 Beta bits will be available for download.

There are several dates suggested for the RTM version of Windows 8. So is Windows8Geek talking about January 7th, 2013. On the Dutch Windows Blog was (for a short period of time) a message posted on the 1st celebration of Windows 7 saying that it would take two more years for Windows 8 to hit the shelves, so somewhere around October 22nd, 2012.

For the first Beta version of Windows 8 I couldn’t really find a date. On the same Windows8Geek blogpost there was a small quote from WZOR (a known leaker of Windows builds)

  • Windows 7 and Server 2008 Service Pack 2 has been worked on since the fall of 2010, and is expected to touch down if all goes well sometime in mid-2012.
  • In March, Windows 8 M3 development will commence.
  • Following M3, work on the first Windows 8 beta will begin; according to WZOR, Microsoft will release two public beta milestone builds in Windows 8′s development.
  • After the second beta, the RC will be worked on then released.
  • Approximately three months after the RC, Windows 8 will reach RTM.
  • And of course, following RTM, it will hit the store shelves and reach the general availability (GA) phase of development, which WZOR states will happen on Monday, January 7th, 2013.

For know WZOR was almost right. Just a few days ago the Post-M2 / Pre-M3 build of Windows 8, Build 7955, was leaked. So maybe we can expect the first Beta of Windows 8 around (or just after) the summer of 2011!

What do you think? When can we the official public download (via Microsoft.com) of the first Windows 8 Beta?

Forefront Endpoint Security 2010 Beta Available!

Forefront Endpoint Security 2010

It took them quiet a while, but it’s finally there (I first blogged about Forefront Codename ‘Stirling’ back in 2008!)…the beta of Forefront Endpoint Security 2010! In the next few weeks I’m certainly going to check it out and blog about it! Right now I’m kinda busy with the latest Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010 (MDT 2010 for the geeks) building a Windows 7 client environment for one of our customers. Besides that I’m also implementing a new App-V (4.6) environment together with a colleage….so when that all is finished I’m really going to take a deep dive into Forefront Endpoint Security 2010!

Of course you don’t have to wait that long to see something about Forefront Endpoint Security….you can start right now by downloading the bits from Microsoft.com!
