Windows 8 is available on TechNet and MSDN!

Just a few minutes ago, when I was just checking some things on TechNet to prepare to download Windows 8, I discovered that the download is there….

And it’s also available through MSDN, although the Subscriber Download page is still showing the Release Preview….image

Just Enter Windows 8 in the search field…and press Go to start searching…..next you will see Windows 8 appearing in the list…

Less than a day away…

……before the Windows 7 download will become available through your TechNet Plus and MSDN Subscription.

I’m kinda curious if the servers will be overloaded again, just like the release of the first beta back in January. When the links become available I’ll update the /windows7/downloads section so everything is up to date again.

It can be a coincidence, but tomorrow evening I’ll be at Microsoft NL HQ for a meeting about Windows 7 and so I’m really hoping that the servers won’t die before I’ll be back at home and have been able to generate a key and download the bits from TechNet.

HOT : TechNet Live Event – 8 Oktober – Den Haag

Technet Live

HOT : Windows 7 RC Page @ TechNet Eval Center is removed!

image

Just a few hours ago I blogged about the new Windows 7 download page over at the TechNet Evaluation Center, it has been replaced (again) by the ‘old’ one (=beta page) again. Probably somebody pressed the publish button a bit to early! Let’s hope nobody gets fired because of this!

Check out both the screenshots, first the Windows RC page (from this afternoon) and next

Windows Vista with SP1 on TechNet and MSDN

image

You didn’t download Service Pack 1 for Vista already? Just stop right there! If you want to reinstall your Vista machine, just download the Windows Vista with SP1 ISO file and you don’t have to install SP1 afterwards!

Ohw…yeah…you can only do that if you have a TechNet or MSDN Subscription 🙂

TechNET Edge : Almost Live!

TechNET Edge

Today I’ve visited the Edge website again and still it’s not live (yeah…nov 12th it will be, I know), but there was some more info about what the Edge is :

The Homepage & The About page :

This is a new community for IT Pros and a sister site to Channels 8, 9, 10 and Mix Online. We’re still in the process of taking this site live and won’t be open officially for business until Monday morning. Since you found us though, don’t go away! Feel free to join the site, check things as we stabilize. Watch out for wet paint!

While you’re here, pop on over to the The Perimeter and introduce yourself.

Thanks!
-Jeff

TechNet Edge is a place where IT professionals go to get the inside scoop on the latest and greatest technologies. You can do stuff like watch screen casts, check out interviews with people who develop the products, connect with your peers and speak what’s on your mind. It is part of the Evangelism Network and follows its doctrine, so you know we keep it real.

On The Perimeter there was a welcome message too :

Hey there,

The Perimeter is a place where you can speak what’s on your mind and connect with people at Microsoft in an informal way.  This is a place where you can communicate with your peers and get feedback on the thoughts you have.  The Perimeter is not a place to attack other people; if all of us follow The Evangelism Network Doctrine, we all reap the benefits of what the Perimeter can provide.
Welcome.

I’m going to check it out next monday when it’s officially launched! You should check it out too : http://edge.technet.com

TechNET Edge : The New TechNET Mystery…

 TechNET Edge

On several Microsoft blogs they’re talking about TechNET Edge (Bart Wessels, John Weston). At first just the logo you see above was available…but since a few days there is a website located at http://edge.technet.com. What it’s all about? I don’t know, but meraTechport tells us that it will be fully available at November 12th!

The website is a bit empty and not all links/buttons/stuff is working the way it (probably) should…
